Just like humans, pets present symptoms that may indicate a disease process is on the way. Some pets are pretty good at hiding symptoms until they are overwhelmed by the disease. Signs to look for include any change in normal behavior, smell, panting and a temperature above 102.5. Unusual redness, inflammation, lumps, shaking and pain may be signs of and underlying sickness. Diseases sometimes manifest as changes in eating, drinking, pooping or peeing. And some other diseases show with signs of vomiting, diarrhea, coughing or sneezing. Shaking and sluggishness may also indicate pain. Time is of the essence when dealing with preventable disease. Contact Dr Figueroa at the first sign of disease if not for reassurance, to evaluate how serious the presenting signs are.
